Old Testament: Job 28.1–12
To read the Bible in a year, read Job 26–28 on July 3, In the year of our Lord 2020
By Don Ruhl
Part of the debate between Job and his friends included a discussion on wisdom, who was wise and who was not. In one of his responses, Job began to talk about wisdom, questioning where we can find it:
“Surely there is a mine for silver,
And a place where gold is refined.
Iron is taken from the earth,
And copper is smelted from ore.
But where can wisdom be found?
And where is the place of understanding?”
– Job 28.1–12
We know the source of other precious things, such as silver and gold, but wisdom is not so easy to find. That is why the people with gold outnumber the people with wisdom.
- Have you found the source of wisdom?
- Do you know what Job will say is wisdom?
