New Testament: Acts 22.17–18
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 22 on July 21, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
As Paul spoke to some Jews who had been beating him (although the Romans would rescue him), he revealed that the Lord wanted to send him out of Jerusalem:
“Now it happened, when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I was in a trance and saw Him saying to me, ‘Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, for they will not receive your testimony concerning Me.’”
– Acts 22.17–18
Paul should have known that was true, for they were beating him! However, he believed that if they could only hear some more, they would receive his testimony, but Jesus knew otherwise, and told him to leave.
Questions:
- Why do we think that people will listen to reason and to Scripture?
- Why had Paul been in the temple?
