Old Testament: Psa 35.1–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 34–35 on July 21, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
You have had a critic. Perhaps someone even went after you with a vengeance, seeking to destroy you. When that happens pray what David prayed:
Plead my cause, O LORD, with those who strive with me;
Fight against those who fight against me.
Take hold of shield and buckler,
And stand up for my help.
Also draw out the spear,
And stop those who pursue me.
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation.”– Psalm 35.1–3
Turn the matter over to the Lord. Do not carry out personal vengeance. However, to do this you must believe as David did and what he believed was that God would do as he requested. Otherwise, David would have been tempted to carry out his own vengeance.
Questions:
- Do you pray to God about those who work against you?
- Who can do a better job of dealing with your enemies: You? or God?
