Old Testament: Gen 31.32
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 31–32 on January 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
Jacob and his family fled from his father-in-law’s home, but then Laban chased after Jacob and when he caught up to him, he accused Jacob of having taken his gods. Then Moses wrote:
“With whomever you find your gods, do not let him live. In the presence of our brethren, identify what I have of yours and take it with you.” For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.
– Genesis 31.32
Was Jacob ready for his beloved Rachel to die? Was Laban ready for his beloved daughter to die?
Jacob was not thinking, but I am sure that we can all relate to that, for there have been many times when we all affirmed something without thinking about it beforehand.
Questions:
- Have you committed yourself to something before thinking it through first?
- What did you do about it later?
