New Testament: Matt 18.6
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 18.1–20 on January 25, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
Jesus had just said that we should be childlike to enter heaven and that if we receive children in His name, we are receiving Him. Then He said,
“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”
– Matthew 18.6
Would could be worse than having a millstone hung around your neck and then to be thrown into the sea? The only thing I can think of is hell. Hell is so horrible that if you had a choice between that and having a millstone hung around your neck and then to be thrown into the sea, you would be better off choosing the latter!
What does that tell you about how Jesus thinks of children? It terrifies me for the people who convince children that God did not create them, but that they evolved.
- Do you receive children?
- How do you influence children to do the right thing?
