Jesus spoke parables to the chief priests and Pharisees to get them to see the truth about themselves, and those parables stepped on their toes:
Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they perceived that He was speaking of them.
– Matthew 21.45
Yet, they did not do anything about it, or rather they did not do anything to change themselves, but they did persecute him, eventually having him killed.

- What does persecuting the one who pointed out your faults accomplish?
