New Testament: Matt 28.5
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 28 on February 15, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
When an angel of the Lord appeared before the guards at the tomb of Jesus, they shook for fear and became as dead men. When the two Marys saw the same angel, they also feared, but before they passed out like the guards, this happened:
But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.”
– Matthew 28.5
To the enemies of God, his things produce fear. To the friends of God, his things produce fear. However, He quickly reassures his friends that we do not have to fear. He knows what we seek, and because we seek His good things, we do not have to fear, for we can know those fearful things are for us. For example, as with the Marys, angels do God’s work for us.
Go forth to live the rest of this day in confidence, not in yourself, but in Him who created you and does wonderful things for you.
Questions:
- Have you feared something of God’s but later found it was beneficial?
- How would you react if you saw an angel?
