New Testament: Luke 7.36
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 7.31–50 on March 31, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
Do you know anyone who likes the Pharisees? I have never met anyone who does. Whether a person is liberal or conservative, of something different, they all speak against the Pharisees. Yet, read this text:
Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat.
– Luke 7.36
Did you read that correctly? Did the passage say that a Pharisee invited Jesus over for a meal and that Jesus accepted the invitation? Why would Jesus do such a thing? God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, or does that exclude the Pharisees?
Questions:
- What was a Pharisee?
- Do you like to eat with people?
