Ahab was a wicked king and Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, knew it. How then do we explain this passage? 

Then it came to pass, in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went down to visit the king of Israel.

– 1 Kings 22.2 

Do you have evil relatives? If so, do you stay away from them? I am guessing that you do not, although you avoid their evil, yet, they are family and there are times to be together. 

Perhaps that is all this is. They were both children of Israel. Jehoshaphat must have been bothered by the division, based on some things that he said later. 

Or perhaps he thought he could bring Ahab back into the way of righteousness. 

Whatever it was, it did not work. 

Questions: 

• What did the writer mean that this happened in the third year? The third year of what? 
• How do you explain Jesus associating with harlots and others?
