New Testament: John 11.57
To read the Bible in a year, read John 11.47–57 on May 30, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
The chief priests and Pharisees did not know what to do with Jesus as he grew ever more popular. Finally, they determined that they had to seize him:
Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, that they might seize Him.
– John 11.57
That had to be one of the saddest days in the history of Israel, that the leaders of God’s people would conspire to seize the God of Israel and that they would ask the people to reveal his location.
May we watch ourselves that we never be so caught up in pride that we rebel against the Creator himself.
- How did Israel get to the point that they wanted Jesus dead?
- Are you a person of pride?
