Old Testament: Job 1.20–21
To read the Bible in a year, read Job 1–3 on June 24, In the year of our Lord 2021
By Don Ruhl
What do you do when someone you love dies? Do you avoid associating with the church? Do you stay away from worship services? When Job lost all of his wealth and most of his workers, and his ten children, the Bible shows what he did:
Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. And he said:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked shall I return there.
The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away;
Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
– Job 1.20–21
You will find all the heroes of the Bible were like Job in that God the Lord came to their thoughts during all their issues of life, whether the issues were of victory or of defeat.
Questions:
- Where have you placed God in your thinking?
- Do you think of Him under every situation of life?
