Why some leave us

New Testament: 1Jo 2.19

To read the Bible in a year, read First John 2 on December 3, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021

By Don Ruhl

As you know very well, since Jesus first built His church, many have left the church and started something of their own. While this at first appears to be unfortunate, yet, consider what John said:

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

– 1 John 2.19

The world needs to see that we are not like those who leave the truth and start something new. The world needs to see Christianity in its purity, for the world has seen enough perversions of the truth. We want everyone to become as we are, but most just will not do that, preferring something of their own making mingled with various truths from the Scriptures.

Questions:

  • Have you ever left the church?
  • If so, what brought you back or why did you come back?
