Troubling thoughts

Old Testament: Dan 4.5

To read the Bible in a year, read Daniel 3–4 on December 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021

By Don Ruhl

God gave King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon at least two dreams and the content of the second dream did something to him. He said to Daniel:

“I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.”

– Daniel 4.5

While the king slept, the God of heaven gave the king a dream and it troubled him. God was not being cruel, but since the dream troubled him and he did not know its interpretation, this would cause him to consult with Daniel, who would tell the king the interpretation, but in this case also tell the king to repent of his sins that the troubling images he saw might not happen to him.

God does what it takes to turn us. For some, it might be a blessing. For others, He might introduce trouble.

Questions:

  • What has it taken to turn you to God?
  • What do you do when you have troubling thoughts?
