Sensual Persons

New Testament: Jude 19

To read the Bible in a year, read The Book of Jude on December 9, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021

By Don Ruhl

Peter wrote what we call Second Peter 2, prophesying of false teachers entering the church. The Book of Jude shows the fulfillment of that prophecy even in the first century. Jude pictured these false teachers and the last thing that he said about them was this:

These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.

– Jude 19

False teachers may appear to have the Spirit, but watch them work, and you will discover that they do not and that they are of the flesh, hence, they are sensual persons. What they do is divide the church. They want a following and they know that they cannot get everyone, but they will gather as many as they can to themselves, and thereby cause division. Watch out for these people.

Questions:

  • Have you seen these kinds of people in the church?
  • Do you read the Scriptures daily to be sure that you will never be led astray?
