New Testament: Matt 23.13
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 23.1–22 on February 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Jesus denounced the Pharisees severely, pronouncing eight woes upon them, beginning with this first woe:
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.”
– Matthew 23.13
The Lord had done mighty works to bring salvation to man, starting in the Garden of Eden, but when someone rejects his plan to save man, and steers others away from it also, then the Lord has the severest of words against such a person.
Let us, therefore, strive to enter into the kingdom ourselves and to bring as many along with us as we can.
Questions:
- What does “woe” mean?
- Have you done anything to drive someone away from the kingdom of heaven?
