Old Testament: Exo 34.29
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 34–36 on February 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Moses had gone up into the mountain of God and came down with the tablets of the testimony more commonly known as the Ten Commandments.
How did it affect Moses to be in the presence of God? I would love to hear what Moses would have to say that he experienced and how he felt at the time.
However, being with God affected him in a way that he did not realize, but the people knew when they saw him:
Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.
– Exodus 34.29
His face glowed like a light, but amazingly he was not aware of it!
In a behavioral way, we also show that we have been with the Lord in prayer and Scripture meditation because our manner of living, our language, our values, our overall nature reflects God’s glory, although we may be unaware of it.
Questions:
- Have you met people who were different than the world, exhibiting biblical and godly traits and later you found out that they were followers of Jesus Christ, but they were unaware of how they showed it?
- Why would the Ten Commandments be called the Tablets of the Testimony?
