No fat and no blood

Old Testament: Lev 3.17

To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 1–3 on February 7, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

When Israel made offerings to the Lord, he specified what he wanted them to do and not do, such as the following:

“This shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you shall eat neither fat nor blood.”

– Leviticus 3.17

Therefore, the children of Israel could not eat the fat or blood, not only of the sacrifices, but at any time. He said in the previous sentence that the fat belonged to him, and in other passages, he stated that they could not eat the blood, because the life was in the blood.

There may have been health benefits for abstaining from eating these things, but the Lord listed his reasons, and they were to honor his reasons above all other considerations.

Questions:

  • Do you eat a healthy diet?
  • Do you donate your blood to the Red Cross or any other compatible organization?
