Old Testament: Lev 23.22
To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 22–23 on February 16, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
When it comes to the Lord, he has never been about thinking only of self, but has always taught and commanded man to think of others, even when it comes to things like harvesting:
“When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field when you reap, nor shall you gather any gleaning from your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger: I am the LORD your God.”
– Leviticus 23.22
The Lord had provided the earth and everything necessary for their farms, then he wanted them to think the same way, by making it possible for them to share with others.
Notice that the poor and the strangers would have to go out and gather up what was left behind, for the Lord wanted them to do what they could.
Questions:
- How do you help strangers to your town and congregation?
- How do you help the poor?
