New Testament: Mark 3.21
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 3.1–21 on February 19, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
A crowd followed Jesus home, and so many people came that his family and disciples could not even eat. His popularity had grown dramatically. The people claimed that he was the Messiah. However, watch his family:
But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.”
– Mark 3.21
They believed that his celebrity status had gone to his head and he was going along with the Messiah idea. Therefore, they concluded that he was out of his mind. However, no one was more in his right mind in those days than the Lord Jesus Christ!
We often do that today, designating someone as being out of their minds because they are doing something extreme, when it might be the case that we are just mediocre and the other guy is actually very much in his right mind.
Let us be careful how we throw around the charge of craziness.
Questions:
- Has someone charged you with being out of your mind?
- What did you do about it?
