Old Testament: Deu 2.2–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 1–2 on March 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
The Lord had Israel stay in different locations in the wilderness and he choose the locations. Why did he choose those particular places and why did he decide that they would stay in one place longer than another? We do not know, but under his leadership, he always had them where he wanted them.
At one point, they traveled around Mount Seir. The Lord had enough of that and said:
And the LORD spoke to me, saying: “You have skirted this mountain long enough; turn northward.”
– Deuteronomy 2.2–3
And so they turned northward, always following the Lord’s directions for movement in the wilderness until they reached the border of the Land of Canaan.
We get used to our lives and we see no reason for changing, but sometimes the Lord wants to see big changes and he works in our lives to make those things happen. We do well to go along with it.
Questions:
- Can you find Mount Seir on a map?
- To what nation did Mount Seir belong?
