Using your stuff for the Lord

New Testament: Mark 11.7–8

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 11.1–19 on March 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people recognized him for who he was, the one who came in the name of the Lord. Therefore, in humility they used their cloaks to serve as a saddle and to line the way where the colt walked, upon which he was riding:

Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

– Mark 11.7–8

Great was the excitement in their hearts. The one they had been waiting for over the centuries, had finally arrived.

They honored him in the best way that they knew at that moment. And he received it.

Questions:

  • How can you use your clothing, or anything you possess, to show your honor for Jesus?
  • Would you put your coat on the ground for someone to walk upon?
