Seek what God chooses for you

Old Testament: Deu 12.5–7

To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 11–13 on March 10, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Israel needed to remember that their leader was not so much Moses, but the Lord, who led them through Moses. The Lord was their leader. He determined everything for them, and they did well to cooperate with him:

“But you shall seek the place where the LORD your God chooses, out of all your tribes, to put His name for His dwelling place; and there you shall go. There you shall take your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the heave offerings of your hand, your vowed offerings, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks. And there you shall eat before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice in all to which you have put your hand, you and your households, in which the LORD your God has blessed you.”

– Deuteronomy 12.5–7

Later, when the children of Israel were in the Land of Canaan, and they sought other places to worship the Lord, it did not go well with them.

He knew what he wanted, and he specified the place where they would do all the things that Moses mentioned in the passage above.

Questions:

  • Do you seek what the Lord wants?
  • What does the Lord want from you as one of his disciples?
