New Testament: Mark 15.45–46
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 15.27–47 on March 16, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Some people seem to glory in saying that you can just throw their dead bodies in the ground or something like that, but Joseph of Arimathea honored the body of Jesus properly:
So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. Then he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen. And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
– Mark 15.45–46
What do you think of the way that this man handled the body of Jesus? It was good that Joseph put the body of Jesus into a rock-hewn tomb because then it could be sealed with a stone, insuring the truthfulness of the resurrection later.
Questions:
- How would you have treated the body of Jesus?
- Would you have had no concern for it since He had left His body?
- How do you want your body treated after it has died?
