New Testament: Luke 9.61–62
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 9.37–62 on April 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Someone approached Jesus, calling him Lord, and stated under what conditions he would follow the Lord:
And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
– Luke 9.61–62
Evidently, the man understood who Jesus was, that he is the Lord. Yet, the man did not fully comprehend what that meant.
Yes, he understood that it is necessary to follow the Lord, but I do not believe that he understood fully just how extensive that is.
It encompasses our whole lives, because Jesus is our life.
Questions:
- Did Jesus not care for the man’s family?
- What is the number in priority for following the Lord?
