New Testament: Luke 10.25
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 10.25–42 on April 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Jesus taught the truth, but men who claimed to follow God’s word had strayed so far from it without realizing what they had done, that when the Author of the Scriptures showed up, they found Him offensive and sought continually to find something wrong with what He taught, as in this case:
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
– Luke 10.25
Other questions may equal that one, but not many, if any, surpass it, in importance. God wants to give us eternal life and we want to live forever more than anything. So, the lawyer asked the right person and the lawyer had an excellent question. However, he did not ask because he wanted to learn, no, rather he tested the Lord, looking for something to criticize in Him.
Friends, we do not test the Lord, He tests us.
Questions:
- What shall we do to inherit eternal life?
- Do you think of Jesus as a teacher?
