The Pharisees loved money and that led them to scoff at the teachings of Jesus, but he said in return to them: 

“You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.”

– Luke 16.15 

That being true, those who do not love money seek to justify themselves before God, for his approval means everything to them. Also, what men value, God considers an abomination and what God values, men consider an abomination. 

Therefore, you will never win with men if you seek to be a man-pleaser. Just please God and he will take care of you so that you do not have to love money nor do you have to worry about money.
