Old Testament: 2Sa 15.26
To read the Bible in a year, read Second Samuel 15–16 on April 26, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
As David and his supporters fled from Absalom’s takeover of the capital, David did what he always did, put his life in the hand of God, saying:
“But if He says thus: ‘I have no delight in you,’ here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him.’”
– 2 Samuel 15.26
Rather than fall into the hands of his son who was rebelling and willing to kill to have the kingdom, David knew it would be better to let God do what seemed best, for David knew that God has mercy and compassion, but man tends not to show those things.
Whatever you do in life, be sure that you do the same and acknowledge that your life is in God’s hand. That does not mean we should not take appropriate action to save ourselves, for that is what David was doing when he made this statement.
Questions:
- Do you believe that your life is in the hand of God?
- If you acknowledge that it is so, do you show it by how you live?
