Jesus revealed that heaven and earth will pass away, but then he also gave this warning that we not get caught up in the things that distract us from that event: 

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.”

– Luke 21.34 

I urge you to examine your life and its focus and emphasis all the time, because the distractions of this life sneak up and before we know it, we have taken our eyes off the fact that the Lord will return one day and cause the heavens and the earth to pass away.
