As David neared death, one of his sons, Adonijah, decided that he wanted to become king and he got some prominent men in Jerusalem to side with him. 

After Nathan the prophet and Bathsheba, David’s wife, revealed what was happening, David took charge and saw to it that Solomon would be the next king. Part of what David did was this: 

So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and took him to Gihon. Then Zadok the priest took a horn of oil from the tabernacle and anointed Solomon. And they blew the horn, and all the people said, “Long live King Solomon!” And all the people went up after him; and the people played the flutes and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth seemed to split with their sound.

David also got prominent men to make Solomon king, including David himself, and his personal guards, his mighty men. 

Soon the hearts of those in support of Adonijah melted and they knew that Solomon would be king. 

Likewise, the God of heaven with all His angels have proclaimed Jesus of Nazareth as the King of kings, and so He is.
