When a leader knows the right thing to do, but lets the crowds shout him down, and he allows them to do what they want, it is not going to go well, as in the case with Pilate, the crowds, and Jesus: 

Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them. But they shouted, saying, “Crucify, crucify Him!”

– Luke 23.20–21 

You know what happened. Pilate turned Jesus over to them that they might have their wish, which was to have Jesus crucified. That did not end well for the Jews. Forty years later God sent the Romans to Jerusalem, and they destroyed the city and their temple. 

Peter pointed out to them that they were guilty of killing the Son of God, and many of them repented for what they had done. (See Acts 2.)

• Have you ever been part of a crowd that shouted down a leader? 
• Have you ever followed a multitude to do evil? 
• If so, have you repented of it?
