God gave Solomon a measure of wisdom that He had never given to anyone before, and when someone has been so blessed, the world finds out about it:

Now all the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart. Each man brought his present: articles of silver and gold, garments, armor, spices, horses, and mules, at a set rate year by year.

– 1 Kings 10.24–25

God had put the wisdom into the heart of Solomon. Therefore, the world headed for Jerusalem to hear the wisdom that came out of his mouth.

However, those people were also compelled from within themselves to bring a present. They wanted to receive, but in their own wisdom they also wanted to give.

Questions:

  • What did people give to Solomon?
  • Would people describe you as a giver or a taker?
