New Testament: Luke 23.39–42
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 23.39–56 on May 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
One of the criminals crucified with Jesus said to Him:
“If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”
– Luke 23.39
Even in torturous death, that criminal had a hard heart, not softening it, although it was his last day before he met God. However, listen to the other criminal, crucified on the other side of Jesus,
“Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”
– Luke 23.40–41
Then that criminal turned his attention to Jesus, not to challenge Him, but to plead for something. He begged,
“Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
– Luke 23.42
That man entered the kingdom, but the other was cast away. Why? It is all about attitude.
Questions:
- What is your attitude?
- Do you challenge God or submit your life to Him?
