This happens when you keep the word of Christ

New Testament: John 8.51

To read the Bible in a year, read John 8.37–59 on May 23, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

When you read the teachings of Jesus, especially as John revealed them in his Gospel Account, you have to discipline yourself to see things as Jesus does and not as you are used to doing. Consider this example:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.”

– John 8.51

What did Jesus mean? He died. He told his apostles that they would all suffer for preaching, including dying for the faith.

He did not speak as of this world, but used the things of this world to speak of the things of the spirit, and of heaven.

Therefore, when he speaks of death he wants us to transfer our thinking from the physical death that we experience here and how dreadful it can be, and apply that to the ultimate death of the spirit, wherein a person is separated from God for all eternity.

So then, if you keep his word, you will die in the body, but you will not die in the spirit, but you will be with God forever.

Questions:

  • Are you afraid to die?
  • Are you prepared to die?
