It was unusual but it should not have been unusual

Old Testament: 2Ch 35.1

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Chronicles 34–36 on June 11, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Ezra made a simple declaration of King Josiah keeping a Passover in Jerusalem, but that should have been normal:

Now Josiah kept a Passover to the LORD in Jerusalem, and they slaughtered the Passover lambs on the fourteenth day of the first month.

– 2 Chronicles 35.1

That is the way that it should have been done, but Judah had neglected this feast, this day of remembrance, so Josiah restored it and he restored it in a massive way.

Even if people have been neglecting a practice that the Lord commands, that does not mean we should continue the neglect, but like Josiah we should restore that practice to God’s glory.

Questions:

  • What did the Passover commemorate?
  • Do you neglect anything that the Lord wants you to do?
