As Peter preached to the family and friends of Cornelius, the people opened their hearts to receive Peter’s words, and then something wonderful happened: 

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

– Acts 10.44 

The Lord poured out the Spirit upon those Roman Gentiles that Peter and the Jews who traveled with him might see that God accepted them just as much as he did the Jews.
