What should happen to the sinner

Old Testament: Job 24.18–21

To read the Bible in a year, read Job 23–25 on July 2, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Job spoke of the rebellious, the murderer, the adulterer, and the burglar, saying:

“They should be swift on the face of the waters,
Their portion should be cursed in the earth,
So that no one would turn into the way of their vineyards.
As drought and heat consume the snow waters,
So the grave consumes those who have sinned.
The womb should forget him,
The worm should feed sweetly on him;
He should be remembered no more,
And wickedness should be broken like a tree.
For he preys on the barren who do not bear,
And does no good for the widow.”

– Job 24.18–21

We do not always see those things happen, and Job brings that up in his debate, but we do know that eventually the justice of God catches up to these people.

God waits for the sinners of the earth to repent and that means giving them time on earth, but if they do not, they will have to face him at the Judgment.

Questions:

  • Have you seen sinners turn from a life of sin to live in righteousness?
  • What did you used to be like?
