Why test God?

New Testament: Acts 15.10

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 15.1–21 on July 8, In the year of our Lord 2022

By Don Ruhl

The Jewish Church had problems initially of trying to figure out what to do with the Gentiles who were coming into the church. Peter gave this warning:

“Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?”

– Acts 15.10

That was a good question. Why did they think they could add something to the Gospel that God had not added?

Questions:

  • What have we added today that the Lord has not authorized?
  • Do you think God said too much or too little?
