Old Testament: Psa 11.4–7
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 10–12 on July 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
While the Lord sits there on his throne in heaven, what does he do in regard to earth? Psalm 11 shows what he does:
The LORD is in His holy temple,
The LORD’S throne is in heaven;
His eyes behold,
His eyelids test the sons of men.
The LORD tests the righteous,
But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.
Upon the wicked He will rain coals;
Fire and brimstone and a burning wind
Shall be the portion of their cup.
For the LORD is righteous,
He loves righteousness;
His countenance beholds the upright.
– Psalm 11.4–7
He looks down from heaven and tests us. He tests us to make us better, but for those who love violence, he will give a severe punishment.
However, he is righteous, so he loves righteousness, and that makes him shine his face upon the upright.
Questions:
- What else do you image the Lord does from his throne?
- How does the Lord react to the one who loves violence?
