Old Testament: Psa 45.2–5
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 44–46 on July 25, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Psalm 45 is a messianic psalm, meaning that it prophesied of the coming Messiah, who is Jesus of Nazareth. Read how the psalmist praised the Messiah:
You are fairer than the sons of men;
Grace is poured upon Your lips;
Therefore God has blessed You forever.
Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One,
With Your glory and Your majesty.
And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness;
And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things.
Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies;
The peoples fall under You.
– Psalm 45.2–5
The psalmist spoke of the beauty of the Messiah, his graceful words, his blessing from God, his sword, his mightiness, his glory, his majesty, his majestic ride, his teaching of awesome things, and his defeating of his enemies.
If you want to praise Jesus as the Messiah, you now have a list of things that you can highlight about him and then praise him for each attribute.
Questions:
- He would ride prosperously because of what?
- What or who would fall under him?
