Old Testament: Psa 86.11–13
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 85–87 on August 9, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
The Book of Psalms shows men wholeheartedly devoted to God in every part of life. And sometimes the psalmists ask God to help them with their hearts as they served Him:
Teach me Your way, O LORD;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
For great is Your mercy toward me,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
– Psalm 86.11–13
The sons of Korah asked the Lord to unite their hearts, to give them singleness of heart to fear the Lord, as they walked in God’s truth, and they wanted to praise the Lord with their whole hearts.
The reasons for these requests was that He had shown them mercy and delivered them from death.
Questions:
- What reasons do you have for wanting to serve the Lord with your whole heart?
- How has God delivered you in the past?
