New Testament: Rom 8.28–29
To read the Bible in a year, read Romans 8.19–39 on August 8, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
One of the great promises of God that Christians cling to is the one that Paul revealed in Romans, showing that God works in our lives:
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
– Romans 8.28–29
We encourage one another that times shall not always be rough in a person’s life, but that God will somehow work everything together for some good, meaning that it will be something that we want.
However, I encourage you to look at this passage from God’s view point. What does God want more than anything? The first sentence states the great promise, but the second sentence explains the first one more.
That second sentence shows that God works that we might be conformed to the image of his Son Jesus Christ. Therefore, he works all things together to form us into the image that he wants us to be, that of his blessed Son.
Questions:
- Do you love God?
- Have you been called according to his purpose?
