Old Testament: Psa 94.16–19
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalm 93–95 on August 12, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
How many times has the Lord helped us, whether we were aware of it or not? I believe there are probably more times that he helped, and we did not even know it. For example, I think often of Earth’s atmosphere and how it protects us constantly from dangerous rays from the Sun, from meteorites, and other space dangers. Or our immune system and all that it does to protect us while we go about our business, completely unaware of what it is doing to protect us. Both of these things the Lord designed.
How many spiritual dangers has he shielded from us? Only he knows. Surely, if he was not there helping us constantly, we would have fallen a long time ago or something would have destroyed us. As it is written:
Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?
Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
Unless the LORD had been my help,
My soul would soon have settled in silence.
If I say, “My foot slips,”
Your mercy, O LORD, will hold me up.
In the multitude of my anxieties within me,
Your comforts delight my soul.
– Psalm 94.16–19
The Lord has been my help, and now my foot has not slipped, nor have I fallen into silence, but I can cast all my anxieties upon him and he comforts my soul!
Questions:
- When was the last time that you thanked the Lord for helping you?
- How can we get the world to see these truths?

Don,
Just a note to let you know how important your devotionals are to me. I read them every day in the morning and evening. They help me with greater understanding and to dig deeper into God’s word.
Thank you so much for your daily efforts. BTW, we recently moved from St George to Prescott. AZ and attend the Prescott C of C here. We miss Bronson but he is still going strong at 91.
May God bless you for what you do for us.
