We do not always have to exercise our rights

New Testament: 1Co 9.15

To read the Bible in a year, read First Corinthians 9 on August 28, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Paul explained to the Corinthian Christians his rights as a preacher, but notice what else he also said:

But I have used none of these things, nor have I written these things that it should be done so to me; for it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my boasting void.

– 1 Corinthians 9.15

Just because he had certain rights did not mean that he had to demand them. Therefore, in this case he decided to forego his rights as a preacher, and he wanted them to know that he was writing of a preacher’s rights not that he might have those rights from the Corinthians, but that they know the rights of a preacher.
