Old Testament: Pro 10.1
To read the Bible in a year, read Proverbs 9–10 on September 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
If we could just fill ourselves with the sayings of the Book of Proverbs, the lives of all people would improve dramatically. For example, consider this one:
A wise son makes a glad father,
But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
– Proverbs 10.1
This might be something that is obvious to parents, but not necessarily to young people. Hence, as Solomon taught his son, he wanted him to know how he could make his father glad and how he could make his mother grieve.
Of course, this is predicated on the assumption that the son (or daughter), loves and respects his parents, and that he would never want to do anything to make them grieve, but instead do everything to make them glad.
Questions:
- Have you made your father glad?
- Have you brought grief to your mother?
