Many crimes happen daily everywhere, but in some places more crimes than usual occur. Are those in high positions aware of these things? Solomon wrote:
If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent perversion of justice and righteousness in a province, do not marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them.
– Ecclesiastes 5.8
When you see the poor oppressed, and justice and righteousness violently perverted, do not marvel at the matter. People are watching. A high official sees the oppression. A still higher official watches over that official. An even higher official watches over that official. We wonder whether someone will do something about what is going on. Someone sees the oppression and they will do something about it. It may not always be when we want it done. The highest official, God, watches to see high officials do something. (See Isaiah 59 and Jeremiah 5.)
