Those who caused fear would fear

Old Testament: Isa 21.3–5

To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 19–21 on September 30, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Isaiah spoke of Babylon and its demise often, including how they would react when the God of heaven brought them down:

Therefore my loins are filled with pain;
Pangs have taken hold of me, like the pangs of a woman in labor.
I was distressed when I heard it;
I was dismayed when I saw it.
My heart wavered, fearfulness frightened me;
The night for which I longed He turned into fear for me.
Prepare the table,
Set a watchman in the tower,
Eat and drink.
Arise, you princes,
Anoint the shield!

– Isaiah 21.3–5

Do not make it a point of your life to put others in fear because God will turn that around and put you in fear, and there is no escaping the fear that he brings.

Questions:

  • How do you treat others?
  • Is your nation running to God or running away from him?
