New Testament: Eph 3.14–15
To read the Bible in a year, read Ephesians 3 on October 1, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
As Paul prepared the Ephesian Christians to hear a prayer that he made for them, notice how he introduced it:
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named…
– Ephesians 3.14–15
First, note that Paul kneeled when he said this prayer, and no doubt other prayers. Kneeling humbles the soul and reminds us who is in charge, and it is not us!
Second, see how he exalted the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ by stating that his whole family, whether those in heaven already or those still on the earth, get their name from him.
He is our everything; he is our all, as a song goes.
Questions:
- When was the last time you got on your knees and prayed?
- Are there times when standing for prayer is more appropriate?
