New Testament: 1Ti 1.20
To read the Bible in a year, read First Timothy 1 on October 21, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Paul encouraged Timothy to keep the charge that Paul had given him, that Timothy was to war the good warfare because some had rejected the faith,
…among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.
– 1 Timothy 1.20
Paul did not speak of people struggling in their faith, but of some who had rejected the faith, having previously been of the faith. They rebelled against it. These people we must turn over to Satan, removing our fellowship from them, with the hope that they will learn not to blaspheme, because that is how they had become shipwrecked. They had blasphemed in some manner.
