Who would not fear the King of kings?

Old Testament: Jer 10.6–7

To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 9–10 on October 23, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Jeremiah knew who our God is, but the rest of the world does not know him as we do. Therefore, I think it confuses all of us, like it did Jeremiah, that the rest of the world does not fear our God:

Inasmuch as there is none like You, O LORD
(You are great, and Your name is great in might),
Who would not fear You, O King of the nations?
For this is Your rightful due.
For among all the wise men of the nations,
And in all their kingdoms,
There is none like You.

– Jeremiah 10.6–7

See Jeremiah’s knowledge of the nature of God? He understood that God is great and that his name is great in might. Why then would anyone not fear our Lord God who is the King of the nations?

Fear belongs to him as his rightful due, because you can search among all the wise men of the nations, and you will discover that God stands alone!

Questions:

  • Do you fear God?
  • Do you believe he has all the wisdom that we need?
