Attitudes toward those in authority

New Testament: Tts 2.9–10

To read the Bible in a year, read Titus 2 on November 1, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

We preach and teach much through our actions, even when at work, or as in the case of the following passage, when serving as bondservants:

Exhort bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back, not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

– Titus 2.9–10

How we act toward those whom we find it difficult to have a good attitude toward will say much about the doctrine, the teaching of God that we believe.

If we could observe ourselves, what would we find? Do we adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things, that is, in all situations toward all people?

Questions:

  • What is pilfering?
  • Do you answer back?
